Description
EFHW-8010-1K-ICAS™ Multi-Band End Fed Half Wave Antenna
“This is the first EFHW antenna we introduced back in 2015, and we are proud to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Over the years, we’ve made subtle enhancements to ensure top performance: the transformer has been refined, and the antenna wire has been upgraded to durable 16-gauge XLPE stealth wire. In 2016, this antenna was reviewed by ARRL QST Magazine, and you can read the detailed review here.”
EFHW-8010-1KW-ICAS Multi-Band End Fed Half-Wave Antenna with pole/tower installation hardware
The EFHW-8010-1KW-ICAS is a premium End-Fed Half-Wave (EFHW) antenna designed for seamless multi-band operation across the 80/40/30/20/17/15/12/10m bands. Unlike many end-fed antennas on the market, this model requires no antenna tuner, thanks to its resonance on 80m (3.5 MHz) and its harmonics (2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.).
Features and Advantages
- No Tuner Required: Fully resonant across multiple bands.
- High-Efficiency Transformer:
- Designed with two FT-240 (2.4-inch dia.) stacked cores for minimal insertion loss.
- Transformation ratio of ~56:1 (~2800:50 Ohms).
- Optimized for 3.5–30 MHz with an unmatched average loss of less than 0.6 dB—a benchmark in the market for RF transformers.
- Worldwide leader in high-ratio, wide-bandwidth transformer design by E73M.
- Flexible Installations:
- Can be deployed in configurations such as horizontal, vertical, inverted V, or inverted L.
- Stealth Design:
- Constructed with durable, black #16 AWG XLPE wire for a low-visibility, weather-resistant installation.
- Equipped with stainless steel hardware for longevity.
Technical Specifications
- Frequency Range: 3.5–30 MHz.
- Resonant Bands: 80/40/30/20/17/15/12/10m.
- Power Handling:
- 1 kW I.C.A.S. for voice modes.
- 250W for digital modes such as FT8.
- Wire Length: ~130 feet.
- Connector: Silver/Teflon SO-239.
- Transformer: MEF-330-1KW-ICAS, optimized for 3–30 MHz.
- Pole /Tower hardware: U-bolts with V-blocks for a diameter up to 2 inches (51mm)
Grounding Recommendations
- Grounding the coaxial cable at the home’s entry point is highly recommended to protect equipment from electrostatic buildup and prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD).
- If the transformer box is mounted high above the ground, grounding at the box is unnecessary—ground the coaxial cable instead.
- Note: Grounding does not affect antenna tuning.
SWR Performance
- Typical SWR readings are better than 2:1 when mounted 25–30 feet above ground and fed with 50 feet of RG8X coaxial cable.
Perfect for Emergency and Professional Use
This antenna is ideal for ALE HF-Link, NVIS, MARS, ARES, EMCOMM, and similar applications. It’s suitable for both temporary and permanent installations, ensuring reliable communication in critical scenarios.

Nothing is perfect, but this antenna is better than good!
I went out to field day in 2016 and heard them fawning over the My Antennas End Fed. I was stuck in HOAville, and couldn’t see the 130 foot wire over my yard. Maybe I was a little paranoid, but I didn’t test it. I did buy two for field day, and T-Rex. One is none and two is one!
At field day, they worked great! We have PVC antenna shooters and got it up 60+ feet, measured by coax length. Now we could hear all the goofs, noobs, and just plain errors up to the final hours.
The antenna went up in four different places, eight times. Great care was employed in retrieaval and packing. The last time, the wire was five feet longer than a new one! It was broken somewhere. Still, it made the trip to Idaho from Virginia the whole time. I bought two of the thicker wire kits.
Meanwhile, I escaped HOAville. I put the other one up and used it for six years, 60 to 70 feet up in two trees. The antenna fell during a wind storm. The wire broke at the trap.
I worked all states on 80, 40, and 20. I’ve got confirmations from 130 countries, 110 on 20M. This is truly a multi-band wonder! I’ll be buying more wire kits.

This is an incredible antenna! Easily tunes to >=1.5 with my AT-1000 Pro

End feds done right. They just plain work, and with just two anchor points, they are superb for portable operations. 73

The quality of the product is very good – can’t expect any better. I am using the antenna as an interim solution which allows me to get on all the HF Bands. I have used a 4 element SteppIR for the last 20+ years – so it isn’t fair to compare results, however, the antenna works as expected and allows me to operate and make QSO’s. We have moved in recents months so this provides a good interim solution until I get the tower and a yagi back up. Thanks for the quick and as-advertised solution.

Excellent product! I bought my latest antenna from you just as backup long wire!
Your first My Antenna is still working great since 4-5 years usage!
All I can say is “Excellent product” after 125 foreign countries contacted!
All I can say is “Glad I ordered my first My Antenna from your company”
150% satisfaction!

I had to put it in my attic due to HOA. Even with bad propagation I’ve been making good DX.

The one Myantenna in my yard works so well that I bought a second one for portable!! Great quality and service. Thanks

I had some high expectations about this antenna. The build quality is excellent, and I expect it to last a long time. I managed to get a rope up between 55 and 65 feet in a tree. The transformer is elevated at about 10′ on a PVC pipe. The end of the wire is elevated on a 10 ‘ PVC pipe too. The slope from the transformer to tree apex is steep. The other side of the wire slopes down gently. Analyzer shows good on the low end of most bands. Radio internal tuner makes it happy on on most all bands, including MARS/CAP frequencies.
It does not load on 160 or 6 meters. I was hoping I could use this as a compromise on 160.
I did have the transformer heat up while working FT8 at 150 watts on 80 meters. SWR went crazy, and I was not expecting that. Otherwise, I worked the CQWW SSB contest this weekend, making 906 contacts and breaking 1 million points for the first time. I do have a 40-meter Delta Loop, and used that during the contest too. But the End Fed was used exclusively on 80 and 10 meters during the contest.

That is why we have robust and improved versions like the EFHW-8010-1K+ and EFHW-8010-2K+ models, along with their transformers MEF-330-1K+ and MEF-130-2K+.

I have had great success with my MyAntenna 80-10 meter EFHW antenna. When a herd of elk pulled it down (by the guy ropes) for the third time in four years, the 2 kw unun was damaged beyond my capability to repair it. I purchased a 1 kw unun to replace it. As I use 100 watts CW most of the time, I expect performance similar to that obtained with the 2kw predecessor. So far, so good. SWR is close to 1:1 on the bands that I have used.
