Overview:
A horizontal delta or quad loop antenna is a closed-loop design constructed with a full wavelength of wire for your lowest operating frequency (e.g., 80 meters). Suspended horizontally above ground, the loop shape can be triangular (delta) or square (quad), depending on your available space and support structures.
When matched with a 4:1 voltage-type BALUN, the loop’s natural feedpoint impedance (around 200 ohms) is efficiently transformed to 50 ohms, allowing easy connection to standard coaxial cable and minimizing SWR across a wide frequency range.
