Description

ATU130-5K-1:1 TUNER BALUN

The ATU130-5K-1:1 is a heavy-duty 1:1 current balun (choke balun) designed specifically for multiband wire antennas fed with ladder line or twin lead. Use it between your antenna tuner and the feedline to convert from unbalanced coax to a balanced feedpoint—ideal for doublet antennas, G5RV, ZS6BKW, Zepp antennas, and full-wave loops fed with 300, 450, or 600 Ohms balanced line.

Built with three oversized 3-inch (73mm) ferrite cores, the ATU130-5K-1:1 handles the wide impedance swings that occur when tuning a multiband antenna across different frequencies. This gives you significantly more headroom for high-SWR operation compared to baluns using smaller cores. See the comparison photo in the image gallery showing our 3-inch cores versus the stacked 2.4-inch cores commonly used by competitors.

Important: Keep the coax run from your antenna tuner to the balun as short as practical to minimize matching losses.

Features:

  • Three large 3-inch (73mm) ferrite cores wound with bifilar AWG #14 silver-plated PTFE (Teflon) insulated wire for maximum choking impedance and power handling
  • Frequency coverage: 1-30MHz
  • Power handling: 5kW ICAS*
  • SO-239 PTFE (Teflon) connector
  • Ceramic feedthrough insulators for balanced line connection
  • All stainless steel hardware
  • Durable polycarbonate enclosure with integrated mounting bracket for wall or pole installation

Compare the size of our 3-inch diameter. Ferrite cores to two stacked 2.4-inch (61mm) cores used in BALUNS by our competition, claiming 5kW.

  1. Gary Burnett

Very happy! I’m using the Balun with antenna setup to operate remote (500 ft loop) in the US and will be getting another to bring with me to other QTH in Colombia. Thank you
