EFHW-8010-2K 2000W Multi-Band End Fed Half Wave Antenna

This is an End-Fed Half-Wave (EFHW*) antenna for 80/40/30/20/17/15/12 and 10m bands. Unlike many END FED antennas on the market, this one does not require the Antenna Tuner to operate. It is a resonant Half wave on 80m (3.5MHz) therefore also resonant on second, third and fourth harmonics etc.  Due to the High Impedance feed point, the antenna is less height dependent. You can put it up at 10 or 50 feet in the air without much change in VSWR values.

*This is perfect antenna for ALE HF-link  stations, NVIS, MARS, ARES, EMCOMM etc.

Various installations such as horizontal, vertical, as inverted V, as inverted L etc. are possible. Measured VSWR in the gallery are taken with the antenna in an inverted V shape with the center of wire at 20 feet and ends a few feet above ground, your values could vary with way and height of installation.

  • NO TUNER needed!
  • NO counterpoise needed! (Grounding recommended*)
  • Frequency coverage: 3.5-30MHz
  • Resonant on 80/40/30/20/17/15/12/10m
  • Wire length ~130 feet
  • Power Handling: 2kW I.C.A.S
  • Stainless Steel hardware
  • Stealth #18 or #14 AWG black wire
  • Connector: Silver/Teflon SO-239

*Grounding at the transformer box or end of the coaxial cable is recommended for protection of your equipment from an electrostatic buildup in order to prevent ESD- electrostatic discharge.

NOTE: grounding does not affect antenna tuning. If the transformer box is installed high above the ground , there is no need to route the ground wire from the box, instead just ground the coaxial cable at the entrance to your home or at the station.

Optional Installation plate for poles

Lee WB8RIM, I purchased this antenna a couple of weeks ago and put it up today as a inverted L , the box is mounted 5 feet off the ground on a fence post and the vertical section is 20 feet in length with the horizontal section 110 feet long going to a 10 foot pole out in a field. The highest swr is 2 .5 to 1 on 3.800 mhz and all the other bands are 1.5 to 1 or less. Excellent performance. I highly recommend this antenna.

I ordered the EFHW-8010-2K back in January 2018. Installed it immediately upon arrival with the heavier wire. This antenna starts on the eves about 15 feet up the side of my house near my radio room and then out about 80 feet up to the top of a tree (55 feet up) in the back yard then comes back (46 feet) to a mast pole on the back of my garage about 35 feet up. In other words nothing real consistent about the layout of this antenna. I did trim it to 126 feet for a good match on 75 meter. Works great on all advertised bands. I use it predominantly on 80/75, 40, 20, 17 and 15 meters. I still use a tuner but I get it down to 1.0 – 1 SWR match on all bands. I have reach South Africa, Japan, Middle East, Europe, South America, just about everywhere based on band conditions. Was going to spend the money to put up a vertical and decided that would be a waste of money as this end fed works just great.

Just got this Antenna, and one thing I can say: Quality Quality Quality!! Just like all other products from Myantennas, it is absolutely excellent. It is just miles ahead in construction, raw materials, finish and workmanship than anything else on the market! Looking forward to years of service with this! Great Job! and Great Value! I’m a real Fan! 73 de SV1DKD

Pretty good antenna. Run 1KW thru it this weekend made several qso’s. Good customer service I had a few questions and Danny was fast on the return emails. I ran it horizontally from 15 feet at feed point to a tree on corner of property up around 40 feet. I ran short on property had to leave a tail vertical dropping down about 10 feet. SWR stayed good and received good reports all in all it works great for me.

Best antenna I have bought. Strung it up and it has not let me down. I get great comments on its performance

Best Antenna I have bought. Strung it up and it has not let me down. Get great performance reports all the time have it in a inverted L . Planning on getting the EFHW-16040 and the new EFHW-8010-2K

I placed one over my house to replace my vertical. It works as described and tunes on 80 too with my MFJ 998. It is simply grounded in front of the house with a ground rod. I did place a Balun Design choke about 8 feet (?) from the unun but did not see if I needed it or not as it was getting cold on the roof that day here in Chicago. I ordered another one for use on vacation as it can be a stealth installation.

This is hands down the best wire antenna I have ever used or owned. I had been using a ladder line G5RV 102 feet, and a DX Engineering Balun 4:1. When I first hooked this antenna up, I forgot I had it still laying on the ground, and with 10 watts, the entire region of southeast US heard me and I made clear contacts. It works equally well on 10 meters, as it does 40, and 20, and 80 meters. I have used it at 27 feet and now a 40 foot mast and use a pully to raise the myantennas EFHW 8010 2K to 38 feet, and run the 130 foot wire out to a tree, and it slopes down to around 12 feet where it is hooked to a climbing harness hook that is tied to the tree. I run 1,000 watts, and use it on all the bands is is rated for. I have not found any wire cult-band that is as versatile or has the range this EFHW has. The length is perfect, and I am sold on MyAntennas quality products. it is concealed, and is used for MARS, and DHS SHARES. I also use a myantennas 2-30MHz RF Choke, to suppress noise, however this is a quiet, low SWR antenna, that is easy to tune. Great for ALE, and Emergency Communciations, and works on MARS, DHS SHARES frequencies. I have bought a second one, as my first was popped by lightning I suspect. I have made contacts during this low solar output with Italy, Spain, England, and South America.

Worst SWR is 1.7 to 1 on 75 thru 10 meters HF bands. My tube type HF amp tunes the bands to a flat SWR. I figure my HF amp puts out about same signal as a three element beam and 100 watts on 20 meters. So, I save a lot of money with this antenna and have the power needed on 75 meters at night. Frankly, you cannot lose with the EFHW-8010-2K for $200.

  10. Dave, AL7HG

Due to illness in my family I had to downgrade my station. to your antena from two large beams and long-wires.
Your antenna has an SWR of less than 1.75 on all bands, except 17 meters.

I got great reports on 80 meters and several worked European DX on 20m.
    Your antenna IS amazing!

  11. Jeff Gullo

I now have 2 EFHW-8010-2K’s and both are amazing! SWR is below 2:1 everywhere on 40 and 20 meters and below 3:1 everywhere else except the upper end of 80 meters. But what is most impressive is performance. I have one tied to my tower at 70 feet sloping down to 50 feet. Within my first 2 days, I broke through many pile ups and made SSB contacts from Austria to Australia on 100 watts. And I can’t overstate how many operators have asked me about my radio and mic due to the abnormally clear voice contacts. THANK YOU MYANTENNAS.COM
