Description

EFHW-4010-P- 200W

Portable or Stationary Multi-Band End Fed Half Wave Antenna

This is a 200W version of the popular EFHW-4010 End-Fed Half-Wave (EFHW*) antenna for 40/20/15/ and 10m bands. Unlike many END FED antennas on the market, this one does not require the Antenna Tuner to operate. It is a resonant Half wave on 40m (7MHz) therefore also resonant on second, third, and fourth harmonics.

*This is perfect antenna for ALE HF-link  stations, NVIS, MARS, ARES, EMCOMM etc.

Various installations such as horizontal, vertical, inverted V, inverted L,  etc. are possible. Measured VSWR in the gallery are taken with the antenna horizontal at 25 feet above the ground, your values could vary with way and height of installation.

  • NO TUNER needed!
  • NO counterpoise needed!
  • Frequency coverage: 7-30MHz
  • Resonant on 40/20/15/10m
  • Wire length ~63 feet
  • Power Handling: 200W I.C.A.S
  • Digital Modes, FT8 75W max.
  • Stainless Steel hardware
  • Stealth #16 AWG  black wire
  • Connector: Silver/Teflon SO-239

*Grounding of the coaxial cable at the radio side is recommended for the protection of your equipment from an electrostatic buildup in order to prevent ESD- electrostatic discharge.

NOTE: grounding does not affect antenna tuning.

*Amateur Radio Emergency Service® (ARES), ALE-Automatic Link Establishment (HFlink), MARS-The U.S. Army Military Auxiliary Radio System (AMARS), NVIS

Almost 200 QSOs including 37 states and 20 countries in the first month with this antenna, at about 35 feet in a valley QTH running 100w. SWR less than 1.4:1 across the phone portions of 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters. Great audio reports, very low noise. Contacts can’t believe I’m running barefoot on a wire. Thanks, Danny 73

Received this about 3 weeks ago and finally had the opportunity to use it in an open space. Set up as an inverted-L at 25 – 30 feet above ground. As with the other EFHW’s I have purchased and built, I used about 5 feet of counterpoise with ~ 25′ of RG8X feedline. SWR was about 1.2:1 on 40M and 1:1 on 20, 15 and 10. Made a few QSO’s on 40 and 20, band conditions favored 40 in the couple days I played with it. One odd one though; could not complete the QSO from my location in South West Utah – the station on the other end was in England, just north of London. For the setup – outstanding!

Very satisfied. Performed better than a similar model from another manufacturer and while SWR on my homebrew was 1:1 on 40 as well as 20 – 10; it was designed for about 40 – 50 watts maximum

I read all the reviews about this antenna and was impressed. I decided it was time to replace my G5RV jr as it has taken a beating and wasn’t performing well. I purchased the 4010p and put it up as a sloper from a tree. I loved the stealth of it. Once it was hooked up I checked it. My SWR was all out of whack. Higher than 2.5 all over. Something is wrong. I went outside and gave my coax a good look. It was old and I found the casing cracked and frayed. Replaced the coax and BINGO! Perfect SWR across the board. Great reception, I’m hearing a lot more stations now. Time to make some contacts! I recommend this antenna. Easy to install too.

This is my first HF antenna … it’s a little noisy for phone (voice) but I’ve had QSOs from Idaho to all over the USA and parts of Canada with it. But for DIGITAL modes such as FT-8, it rocks. I just had a QSO with a person in Osaka, Japan … over 7000 miles from Idaho! This morning’s gray-line propagation on 40m was awesome! Also QSO’d with a guy 4000+ miles from here in the middle of the Atlantic on a ship. Heard several TX from Indonesia today too (but they didn’t hear my 80W signal back … LOL). I do recommend this antenna!

  5. SATYAN vu3mes.

My 4010 was purchased in 2016 and has been a great performer since then. Recently I have connected the antenna to a QRP radio, 5 watts Yaesu ft817ND and works perfectly without a tuner. I am able to make good contacts on 40 and 20 MTRS with this set-up. Congratulations ?? for a great antenna.

  6. Brian Schmidt

Great antenna for POTA activations. Normally I use my ICOM 7300 running 100 watts with antenna from the parks I activate. Typically 6-15 ft above the ground (not too many tall trees in the parks here in central Nebraska). Yesterday worked 37 stations SSB in 45 minutes running 10 watts from a ICOM 705. Location was Medicine Creek SRA Nebraska K-9363. Three QSO with Alaska stations and 1 from the Azores. I recommend this antenna.

  7. TAKAO OGATA

I tried using it for SOTA operation. I took it to the mountain in the actual production, but the characteristics of SWR were not bad either.
Normally, the signal was weak and it seemed that it was finally reaching the other party, but with this antenna it seems that a signal of sufficient strength has arrived.
I will continue to use it habitually

  8. Dan laporte

I’ve had this antenna for a few years now. I use it as a sloper attached to a tree in my backyard. I work qrp cw with it. I’ve made contacts all over the US, signal reports in Canada and UK. All on 5 watts. Sad it’s discontinued. Great antenna!
