Description

EFHW-8010P- 200W

Portable or Stationary Multi-Band End Fed Half Wave Antenna

This is a 200W version of popular EFHW-8010 End-Fed Half-Wave (EFHW*) antenna for 80/40/30/20/17/15/12 and 10m bands. Unlike many END FED antennas on the market, this one does not require the Antenna Tuner to operate. It is resonant Half wave on 80m (3.5MHz) therefore also resonant on second, third and fourth harmonics etc.  Due High Impedance feed point, the antenna is less height dependent. You can put it up at 10 or 50 feet in the air without much change in VSWR values.

*This is perfect antenna for ALE HF-link  stations, NVIS, MARS, ARES, EMCOMM etc.

Various installations such as horizontal, vertical, as inverted V, as inverted L, zigzag etc. are possible. Measured VSWRs in the gallery are taken with the antenna in an inverted V shape with the center of wire at 20 feet and ends at few feet above ground, your values could vary with way and height of installation.

FIRST OF ALL – THE ANTENNA WIRE IS NOT THE CHEAP “BARB-WIRE” BUT THE MULTI STRAND WIRE THAT IS EASY TO HANDLE WITHOUT ENDING UP WITH A LOT OF KINKS. THIS IS IMPORTANT WHEN ONE USES THIS ANTENNA FOR PORTABLE SETUPS.THE CASE FOR THE BALUN AND THE COAX CONNECTOR IS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT AND FIRST GRADE.IT WOULD PROBABLY EXCEED “MIL-SPEC”
THE ANTENNA PERFORMED EXACTLY AS STATED BY THE MANUFACTURER , EVEN WHEN NOT STRUNG AT LOW LEVELS LIKE 15 FT ABOVE GROUND.IT IS AT LEAST AS GOOD AS MY INVERTED V DIPOLE FOR 40 AND 80 M.
MOST OF THE TIME I WILL USE IT ON 40 M AND ABOVE, SO I CALLED DANNY AND HE TOLD ME, HOW MUCH TO CUT OFF AT THE LONG END – SURE ENOUGH – IT WORKS PERFECTLY ! THIS MAN KNOWS HIS STUFF !!!
I MY 45 YEARS OF HAM RADIO I HAVE NOT FOUND A WIRE ANTENNA THAT CAN OUTPERFORM THE EFWW. GO GET ONE !!!

I ordered and received a EFHW-8010P Multiband End Fed Half Wave Antenna from MyAntennas. I purchased the antenna to try and reach other hams within a 150-200-mile radius. The emergency organization that I am the team leader for had to be confident that an antenna in a NIVS configuration needed to have 100 per cent coverage day or night. In operating Winlink Express Peer-to-Peer on 75 meters. Did it work in the resent S.E.T. drill? It was amazing. Day or night I was able to connect when I wanted to whom I needed to. I would give this antenna a 5+++ rating if I could.
The antenna is built with excellent materials that I have no question that it will be used for many years to come. Installation is simple find a tie off point for both ends and put it up. Connect to rig and you are on the air with no other changes.

I ordered this antenna from Danny several months ago and I am so pleased! I previously used a G5RV and a EARCHI style EFHW built by myself. I wasn’t pleased with the G5RV (mounted in the same trees as the EFHW-80-10) and am not certain I did a good job with the 9:1 I made myself. I had some contacts but they were fairly limited and my receive was not very good. So with some skepticism I spent the money on one of the EFHW 80-10 antennas. It was the right choice!! It is awesome!
Since installing this new antenna approx 32′ high from two trees I have had much different results. I used to use a tuner to match my wire and G5RV previously, but not anymore. Using Danny’s antenna there is no need for tuner! It is much quieter and receives awesome. I have made several QRP (5W) QSO’s from my QTH in SW Washington State. One was to Michigan (1700 miles), with a great signal report!
In the last two months I have made contacts to Japan, Asiatic Russia, Greece, Mexico, Virgin Islands, Dom Republic, Jamaica, Barbados and much of the US. I am so thrilled to have such a great product to encourage my hobby. My 13yo son enjoys turning the VFO now to try and find my next contact. This antenna is built very well and I recommend this antenna to anyone.
I’ve heard guys say you shouldn’t buy a wire and balun, just make them yourself. But for me, I enjoy actually using my radio while I play with other antenna options and Danny’s design removed the uncertainty of whether my antenna was working well. I’m going to buy another antenna from Danny for portable operations when the funds allow. I can’t wait to try it out from a mountain top!
    You won’t be disappointed!

Just a follow-up review. A great antenna (EFHW 8010). I recently started working QRP using the EFHW 8010 antenna. I get contacts on 5 watts into Japan, S. Cook Island and Hawaii and a number of US states and 10 watts to Perth Australia, all on SSB voice. 5 watts to Japan from my Sacramento area QTH is 1000+ miles per watt and numerous times I have done Japan on 5 watts. Australia is 9,134 miles, but with 10 watts this morning. I installed the 8010 at 43 feet at the feed point and the loose end slopes down to 7 feet above the ground. My QTH is only about 110 feet above sea level and inland. de WJ6N

All true… great antenna… set up in inverted L 50 feet up… great on 80 20… (obviously?) realized I was tuning up out of habit and found out it was better without!!! and not burning up my power. Nice field day this weekend. No fuss. Put it up and get out. KC1GQH, Rick

Purchased a EFHW 8010P for portable work. Just back home from a vacation and I’m pleased to say that I’m very happy with the performance of this antenna! Quiet receive, easy deployment. Just throw it up between trees in almost any configuration I folded back 4 foot at the end and with the Yaesu FT450D’s ATU, was able to to ragchew with my Peeps on 75 meters and still have a good standing wave on the General voice portion of the rest of the bands! Some of my friends thought I was on my Base station at home! Awesome job, Danny! KB9NZW Jeff

Set up as inverted L on a 10m GFK mast, end tied to a tree 3m above ground, out in a field in central Germany, on a 12V starter battery, 40 Watts brought us an S9+5 in Japan on 40 meters. We could have turned it down to 10 or even 5W on normal conditions, but on a contest we wouldn’t have been heard anymore then.
The UnUn box is made in Germany, hey 🙂

Receiving was so good we had to use the attenuator at times.

    Rating: SIX stars.

Please provide printed copy of invoice and payment confirmation on the outside of parcel for future shipping to Germany, else the customs force the buyer to provide that at the next customs office – where “next” can mean some 100++ kilometers away.

Installed this antenna at the cabin with one end at about 45 feet and the other at 8 feet and running 100 watts with a KX3 and amp. It has performed very well in an area that is very wooded and at lowest point of surrounding area. Turned the rig on for a quick cw qso on 20 meters last week and worked into New Zealand with 559. Couldn’t be happier.

Bought this antenna to use for our field day digital station and was very surprised at how well it worked. Installed with the feed point at 30 feet and other end at 6 feet, oriented to work north south. Band conditions were not good in this area but still managed a top digital score for the 2017 field day. I would recommend this antenna to anyone looking for a quick and easy to install, multi band antenna if planning to operate on the lower end of the bands. We did not need a tuner on any of the bands.

I ordered my antenna a week ago, and it was delivered two days later….on a Saturday. I had been in contact with Danny with questions, and he answered all my questions promptly. This was greatly appreciated. I don’t have much “yard space”, but was able to put up the 130′ wire as an inverted vee. I have lots of trees I had to go under, so I started out near the house at only five feet…up to the top of my pole at about sixteen feet, and down again to about six feet. I would have liked to go higher at the center, but just didn’t have the room. My wife Patty, N0ZAR, helped me put up the antenna. After it was installed and the coax was at the radio I tried out each band. WOW!!! It blew me away. It was 1:1 on the CW portion of 80 meters, which is exactly what I wanted as I am a CW fanatic. It was also 1:1 on the CW portion of 40. 20 was a little high on CW end, but was 1:1 on the SSB side. Then came my favorite band…17 meters. I was worried about this one, but it was 1.1:1 across the entire band!!! It was 1:1 across the entire 15 meter band, and also the 12 meter band. It was a little high on the CW end of 10, but useable across the entire ten meter band Cwithout a tuner. The only band that was high (over 3:1) was the 30 meter band. My automatic tuner and the built in tuner in my IC-746 PRO easily handled any tuning on any portion of any band. I am extremely happy with this antenna, and would recommend it to anyone. I compared it via antenna switch with my other 5 band dipole, and Danny’s antenna heard signals the other dipole couldn’t even find. I am a “happy ham”, and again thanks to Danny for creating a great antenna that makes this all possible! Bob, W0NYA

Used this antenna for the first time as part of my club’s temporary “antenna farm” for ARRL Field Day 2018. Mounted the box with a bungee cord to the top of a ladder on the back of a camper trailer that served as our SSB shack, shot the wire over a 50′ tree about 60′ aft of the camper, with the wire end coming down to an adjacent tree another 60′ away, tied off 10′ off the ground – the wire formed an inverted V, oriented East-to-West…. We fed the aerial with a 25′ piece of RG8X and ran the station at 100 watts on 10, 15, 20, 40, 80, and with the help of my AT-897 tuner, all the way down to 160 meters with excellent results! VSWR readings on my FT-897’s meter were so low as to be unreadable on all but 160 and 10 meters, and they were still below 1.3:1…

We did an A-B comparo with an Eagle One 31′ HF vertical with full ground planes deployed, and the 8010P walked away with top honors, easily beating out the vertical’s reception by at least 1-2 S-units on 20 and 40, to say nothing of the vertical’s total inability to work 80 meters and the long wire’s surprising ability to hear on Top Band. Worked over 800 contacts successfully, as far away from our mid-Michigan site as AZ, EB, WWA, and ORG.

I’m so pleased by my “temporary” antenna that I’m probably going to install it permanently at the home shack!

Love this antenna, awesome performance on just 100w. So many different install options and all of them with great swr readings. I definitely want more “MyAntennas” products!

I purchased this antenna for use in a very limited installation area and even running only about 12 feet above ground it tunes across 20, 40, and 80 (Direct feed, no tuner) and puts virtually all 100 watts of my old Kenwood out the door. As far as 10 meter, the SWR is amazing, my watts out is somewhat diminished but I have to attribute that to the characteristics of my installation.
A truly amazing product that meets or exceeds the posted specs.
    Hats off to the designers…..
