Portable or Stationary Multi-Band End Fed Half Wave Antenna

This is a 200W version of popular EFHW-8010 End-Fed Half-Wave (EFHW*) antenna for 80/40/30/20/17/15/12 and 10m bands. Unlike many END FED antennas on the market, this one does not require the Antenna Tuner to operate. It is resonant Half wave on 80m (3.5MHz) therefore also resonant on second, third and fourth harmonics etc.  Due High Impedance feed point, the antenna is less height dependent. You can put it up at 10 or 50 feet in the air without much change in VSWR values.

*This is perfect antenna for ALE HF-link  stations, NVIS, MARS, ARES, EMCOMM etc.

Various installations such as horizontal, vertical, as inverted V, as inverted L, zigzag etc. are possible. Measured VSWRs in the gallery are taken with the antenna in an inverted V shape with the center of wire at 20 feet and ends at few feet above ground, your values could vary with way and height of installation.

    FIRST OF ALL – THE ANTENNA WIRE IS NOT THE CHEAP “BARB-WIRE” BUT THE MULTI STRAND WIRE THAT IS EASY TO HANDLE WITHOUT ENDING UP WITH A LOT OF KINKS. THIS IS IMPORTANT WHEN ONE USES THIS ANTENNA FOR PORTABLE SETUPS.THE CASE FOR THE BALUN AND THE COAX CONNECTOR IS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT AND FIRST GRADE.IT WOULD PROBABLY EXCEED “MIL-SPEC”
    THE ANTENNA PERFORMED EXACTLY AS STATED BY THE MANUFACTURER , EVEN WHEN NOT STRUNG AT LOW LEVELS LIKE 15 FT ABOVE GROUND.IT IS AT LEAST AS GOOD AS MY INVERTED V DIPOLE FOR 40 AND 80 M.
    MOST OF THE TIME I WILL USE IT ON 40 M AND ABOVE, SO I CALLED DANNY AND HE TOLD ME, HOW MUCH TO CUT OFF AT THE LONG END – SURE ENOUGH – IT WORKS PERFECTLY ! THIS MAN KNOWS HIS STUFF !!!
    I MY 45 YEARS OF HAM RADIO I HAVE NOT FOUND A WIRE ANTENNA THAT CAN OUTPERFORM THE EFWW. GO GET ONE !!!

    I ordered and received a EFHW-8010P Multiband End Fed Half Wave Antenna from MyAntennas. I purchased the antenna to try and reach other hams within a 150-200-mile radius. The emergency organization that I am the team leader for had to be confident that an antenna in a NIVS configuration needed to have 100 per cent coverage day or night. In operating Winlink Express Peer-to-Peer on 75 meters. Did it work in the resent S.E.T. drill? It was amazing. Day or night I was able to connect when I wanted to whom I needed to. I would give this antenna a 5+++ rating if I could.
    The antenna is built with excellent materials that I have no question that it will be used for many years to come. Installation is simple find a tie off point for both ends and put it up. Connect to rig and you are on the air with no other changes.

    I ordered this antenna from Danny several months ago and I am so pleased! I previously used a G5RV and a EARCHI style EFHW built by myself. I wasn’t pleased with the G5RV (mounted in the same trees as the EFHW-80-10) and am not certain I did a good job with the 9:1 I made myself. I had some contacts but they were fairly limited and my receive was not very good. So with some skepticism I spent the money on one of the EFHW 80-10 antennas. It was the right choice!! It is awesome!
    Since installing this new antenna approx 32′ high from two trees I have had much different results. I used to use a tuner to match my wire and G5RV previously, but not anymore. Using Danny’s antenna there is no need for tuner! It is much quieter and receives awesome. I have made several QRP (5W) QSO’s from my QTH in SW Washington State. One was to Michigan (1700 miles), with a great signal report!
    In the last two months I have made contacts to Japan, Asiatic Russia, Greece, Mexico, Virgin Islands, Dom Republic, Jamaica, Barbados and much of the US. I am so thrilled to have such a great product to encourage my hobby. My 13yo son enjoys turning the VFO now to try and find my next contact. This antenna is built very well and I recommend this antenna to anyone.
    I’ve heard guys say you shouldn’t buy a wire and balun, just make them yourself. But for me, I enjoy actually using my radio while I play with other antenna options and Danny’s design removed the uncertainty of whether my antenna was working well. I’m going to buy another antenna from Danny for portable operations when the funds allow. I can’t wait to try it out from a mountain top!

    Just a follow-up review. A great antenna (EFHW 8010). I recently started working QRP using the EFHW 8010 antenna. I get contacts on 5 watts into Japan, S. Cook Island and Hawaii and a number of US states and 10 watts to Perth Australia, all on SSB voice. 5 watts to Japan from my Sacramento area QTH is 1000+ miles per watt and numerous times I have done Japan on 5 watts. Australia is 9,134 miles, but with 10 watts this morning. I installed the 8010 at 43 feet at the feed point and the loose end slopes down to 7 feet above the ground. My QTH is only about 110 feet above sea level and inland. de WJ6N

    All true… great antenna… set up in inverted L 50 feet up… great on 80 20… (obviously?) realized I was tuning up out of habit and found out it was better without!!! and not burning up my power. Nice field day this weekend. No fuss. Put it up and get out. KC1GQH, Rick
