EFHW-4010-HP 1500W Multi-Band End Fed Half Wave Antenna

This is an End-Fed Half-Wave (EFHW*) antenna for 40/20/15/10m bands. Unlike many END FED antennas on the market, this one does not require the Antenna Tuner to operate. It is resonant Half wave on 40m (7MHz) therefore also resonant on second, third and fourth harmonics.  Due to High Impedance feed point, the antenna is less height dependent. You can put it up at 10 or 50 feet in the air without much change in VSWR values.

*This is perfect antenna for ALE HF-link  stations, NVIS, MARS, ARES, EMCOMM etc.

Various installations such as horizontal, vertical, as inverted V, as inverted L, zigzag etc. are possible. Measured VSWRs in the gallery are taken with the antenna in an inverted V shape with the center of wire at 20 feet and ends at few feet above ground, your values could vary with way and height of installation.

*Grounding at the transformer box or end of the coaxial cable is recommended for protection of your equipment from an electrostatic buildup in order to prevent ESD- electrostatic discharge.

NOTE: grounding does not affect antenna tuning. If the transformer box is installed high above the ground , there is no need to route the ground wire from the box, instead just ground the coaxial cable at the entrance to your home or at the station.

    I used it at ZS5/NO9E and CE0Y/NO9E with Expert 1.3k running a KW or more. Height and shape had a minimal impact on SWR. Running, the box was barely warm on 20-10 and warm but not hot on 40. Very low SWR on 20-10 and a bit higher on 40m. Also on 40m the resonance depends on cable length but is lower with a makeshift balun (a few loops of RG8X around a toroid). When compared to a 15m elevated vertical, the endfed had a similar performance but was quieter. This antenna solves the issue of a lightweight multi band antenna that supports a KW.

    Just erected the EFHW 4010 HP 1 KW Antenna, and must say it does all that it says on the box, i use it mainly for 40 Mts and it works 100% better than my 66 ft end fed wire i had up before, i cant get anything longer as my garden is only 68 ish feet long, so this antenna fits in lovely. It does work great on 20 mts = 15 mts = 10 mts with no problem, if i needed to buy another one yes i would, the SWR is 1.4 on all bands without a tuner, but i do use a tuner all the time. In the UK we a limited to 400 watts which it can run all day, i tried it at 900 watts into my dummy load with no problems.
    All i can say is it is a great little antenna, if you are thinking of getting one then no doubt you will be happy like i am.
